Bakery & Seasonal Treats

We bake fresh daily! Our Hobart and St. John bakery locations typically have an assortment of pies, cakes, cake slices, cupcakes, mini pineapple upside down cakes, breakfast pastries, kolache, biscotti, scones, cheesecakes, croissants, muffins, banana bread, zucchini bread, and cookies.

Enjoy a fresh hot or iced latte with your favorite treat, pick up a chicken salad sandwich for lunch, and take home a chicken pot pie or a dessert for dinner.

Our bakery cases are always changing with fresh, seasonal favorites so there’s always something new to discover. Some of our seasonal traditions are listed below.

Timing and availability will vary. Fruit season dates are determined by nature, so months shown below are approximate. Everything is made fresh and available while it lasts. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and sign up for email to find out what’s fresh this week. If you’re looking for something specific, you can order ahead or call before you make the drive. Valentine’s Day Treats (February)

Valentine’s Day sweets may include heart-shaped chocolate turtles, heart-shaped peanut butter cups, heart-shaped macarons, plus decorated cookies, cupcakes, and more, complete with gift boxes. Our Hobart location is generally closed in February but has pop-up hours for the holiday — keep an eye on Facebook, Instagram, or email.

Pączki (February)

Every year, we make fresh pączki — the traditional Polish doughnuts enjoyed before Lent. We typically have them for about 10 days leading up to and including Fat Tuesday, at both our Hobart and St. John bakeries.  Our pączki flavors depend on the day and include vanilla buttercream, chocolate buttercream, raspberry,  apricot, Boston Cream, strawberry, cheese, blueberry, cherry, and lemon.

Bunny Cakes (Easter)

We bake bunny cakes and bunny cupcakes every year, and you can also pre-order our delicious cinnamon rolls, Easter bread, dinner rolls, and more.

Nut Roll

(Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter)

Marilyn’s nut roll is a Northwest Indiana favorite. We still use the traditional Croatian walnut roll recipe taught to Marilyn by one of her early customers.

Rhubarb Treats (May+)

Seasonal rhubarb baked goods may include rhubarb tea bread, raspberry rhubarb cobbler, strawberry rhubarb pie, and more.

Raspberry Treats (May, August)

Seasonal raspberry bakery treats may include raspberry rhubarb cobbler, raspberry sugared donuts, and raspberry glazed donuts — made with a sweet raspberry glaze, finished with a rich fudge drizzle, and topped with chocolate shavings.

Strawberry Treats (June)

Strawberry season means fresh strawberry whip pies made with berries grown right at Johnson’s Farm, strawberry cheesecake, strawberry kolache, strawberry muffins, strawberry breads, strawberry pound cake, strawberry scones, and of course… strawberry donuts! Made with the sweet flavor of strawberry season and coated in our signature sugar, these seasonal favorites never last long.

Blueberry Treats (July)

We typically make blueberry donuts, blueberry pie, blueberry cobbler, lemon blueberry cheesecake, lemon blueberry cake, and blueberry muffins. Our festive USA Pie is the perfect dessert to bring to your holiday cookout, family gathering, or fireworks celebration, made with three all-American favorites blueberry, apple, and cherry. We have plenty of other patriotic baked goods for July 4th, including festive decorated cookies.

Peach Treats (August)

Seasonal peach baked goods may include peach cobbler, peach bread, and peach raspberry crumb pie.

Apple Treats (August - October)

Visit our bakeries for apple dumplings, apple slices, apple bread, apple cake with cream cheese frosting, our famous apple donuts (now with two varieties) and cider slushies! Apple pie available year-round.

Pumpkin Treats (October - December)

Stop in for our scratch-made pumpkin pies, pumpkin cake, and pumpkin cheesecake through Christmas! We’ll also have pumpkin donuts for the month of October only.

Toffee (October - March)

Our toffee is hand stirred, hand poured, and hand cracked every day with Aunt Carol's recipe she passed down to Marilyn — now made by Marilyn’s grandson, Tracy. Our English toffee makes a great corporate gift, party favor, or simply as a personal treat. We offer a large selection of packaging for all needs and budgets.

Christmas Cookie Walk (December)

Our annual Christmas cookie walk is a Northwest Indiana tradition, happening at our St. John location December 12th and Hobart location December 13th.

Visit either location to pick and choose from 35+ varieties of cookies, or order a holiday cookie platter. We have plenty of other Christmas pies, cakes, and treats — order ahead or come in and pick up something special from the case.
