Early Spring News

We begin our new season well rested and with much enthusiasm for the upcoming year.  We have taken a few extra weeks to develop and implement some of our new ideas to further our purpose.  We look to the upcoming year with hope and promise, even when we are surrounded with talk of despair.  Fuel and food prices are skyrocketing.  Our solutions to this problem is very simple:  buy local first.  It saves on fuel costs, and supports the local economy.  Sustainability is the new buzz word, but it comes back to the farm culture, and we are so lucky in Northwest Indiana to have such great access to small farmers.

This year will host a link to local producers, organizers, and other neat projects to foster our local community.  We are also planning to host a Harvest Fest in August.  We are planning a day to prepare for the winter with canning, preserving, freezing and drying seminars.  We will enjoy  a local dinner and music to bring our community together for an evening of harvest celebration.  If you have something you would like to offer please contact barb@marilynsbakery.com.

We have been playing with new recipes to further our quest for great tasting food. Register to receive our updates. We are currently offering our newest items.  Our own, Amanda Pickett, has shared her creations with a new line of healthful cookies.  Peanut Butter Twist, Oatmeal Raisin, and my personal favorite Chocolate Espresso.  These cookies are made with local, free range eggs, organic butter, unrefined sugar, and a mixture of flours (barley, flax, whole wheat).

We look forward to a great year!  Hope to see you soon.                                                                                 Stay warm and Eat well!
